Methodology & how to use this
How the payment is calculated
We add sales tax to the vehicle price, subtract your down payment and trade-in to get the amount financed, then run the standard amortization formula: P × r / (1 − (1+r)^-n), where r is the monthly rate and n is the number of months.
A note on sales tax
Many states tax only the net price after trade-in (price − trade-in), which lowers the taxable base. This tool applies sales tax to the full vehicle price — so if your state offers a trade-in tax credit, your real tax bill may be lower than shown.
What we don't include
Registration, title, dealer doc fees, extended warranties, GAP insurance, and any promotional rebates. Total cost is loan + down + trade — insurance, fuel, and maintenance are on top.
