Balance over time

The $$ of paying more

Paying $100 more each month saves you $1,775 in interest and gets you debt-free 23 months sooner.

Methodology & how to use this

The math

Each month we accrue interest at APR/12 on the current balance, then subtract your payment. If your payment ever falls below the monthly interest, the balance never decreases — that's the "minimum payment trap."

What this doesn't model

New purchases on the card, fees, penalty APRs, or introductory 0% periods. Stop swiping the card while you're paying it down — the interest math only works if the balance stops growing.
